Odisha Government on Wednesday extended the service period of DGP YB Khurania till 16 August 2026. The service period has been extended to make his tenure a minimum of two years as Director General of Police.
“The government has been pleased to extend the service period of Shri YB Khurania, IPS, DG & IG of police (HoPF) Odisha till 16.08.2026 to make his tenure minimum 2 years as DG & IG of police (HoPF) as per the OM dated 18.05. 1977 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs,” read the notification issued by the Home Department of the Government of Odisha.
The 1990-batch officer- Khurania officially took charge as the new Odisha DGP on August 16, 2024. Khurania returned to Odisha from central deputation as the Special DG of the Border Security Force.
Khurania has previously served in various key positions in the state, including SP in Nayagarh, Jajpur, Rourkela, Mayurbhanj, and Ganjam districts, Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. His past roles also include DIG of southern and northern ranges. Khurania also served as the Vigilance Director.
