Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nityananda Nayak, OFS-I, posted at Kendu Leaf Division, Keonjhar, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income. The arrest followed two days of extensive raids at seven locations across Keonjhar and Angul.
The anti-corruption agency teams uncovered a slew of unaccounted assets, including a sprawling 9,000 square feet multi-storey building in Angul, a lavish farmhouse spread across 1.5 acres in Chhendipada with multiple structures, a Rs 30 lakh excavated pond, plantations, two bore wells, a well, and an outhouse.
Notably, Nayak had attempted to conceal this farmhouse from authorities. However, a diary discovered from his Keonjhar quarters revealed detailed records of payments and expenditures related to the property. Acting on this lead, a separate vigilance team,

- 115 land plots
- Gold weighing 200 grams
- Cash amounting to Rs 10.25 lakh
- Bank deposits exceeding Rs 50.38 lakh
- Two four-wheelers
Following the seizure, Nayak was arrested and booked under Balasore Vigilance under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar, later in the day.
