The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) is likely to file an application in the court today seeking permission to take Kashmiri fraudster and suspected terrorist, Ishaan Bukhari on a seven-day remand for further questioning, sources informed on Monday.
Bukhari is currently lodged at Ragadi jail in Jajpur.
Moreover, the National Investigating Agency (NIA), Punjab Police and Kashmir Police are also likely to join the probe in Odisha to ascertain Bukhari’s possible terrorist links.
As per reports, Bukhari was in contact with some Pakistani ISI agents. It is suspected that some of sensitive data of Indian security installations might have already been leaked to the ISI by Bukhari.
Four mobile phones were recovered from Bukhari, out of which two were switched on. The working mobiles have been sent for CDR analysis while the other two have been sent to the State Forensic Science Lab (SFSL) for recovery of data.
Bukhari was arrested by a special team of STF following a raid at Neulpur area in Jajpur district on Saturday for his alleged links with some suspicious anti-national elements.
Senior STF officials said that the accused is also wanted by Kashmir Police in relation to a case of cheating and forgery there and one non-bailable warrant is pending against him.
STF officials further informed that over 100 documents have been seized during the raid. Surprisingly, the accused was found to be impersonating a Neurologist, an Army Doctor, an officer in PMO, a close associate of some high-ranking NIA officials.
The accused has married at least 6-7 girls from various parts of India including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha. He was also active on various websites/ Apps and was in romantic relationships with many girls impersonating a doctor with international degrees.
