The Odisha government has converted 263 hamlets into revenue villages within one year, while the decision for another 147 hamlets is currently under review. A final decision on these pending villages is expected by April.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari provided this information in the Odisha Assembly while responding to a question raised by MLA Dushmant Swain on Thursday.
He stated that modern technology is being used for mapping and boundary demarcation, a process that is expected to be completed within six to seven days. Residents of hamlets seeking revenue village status have been advised to submit applications through their local Tehsildar.
The Board of Revenue has so far declared 1,053 hamlets as revenue villages. However, due to slow implementation in the previous government, only 307 villages have been updated in land records, while over 700 villages are yet to be recorded. Revenue village status allows settlements to access central and state government welfare schemes.

“The board of revenue had approved to convert only 1053 hamlets to revenue villages till 2024. However, only 307 villages have received the revenue village status. The records of over 700 hamlets are yet to be updated,” Pujari said.
“Ever since the Mohan Majhi government came to power in Odisha, we have converted 263 hamlets into revenue villages,” the minister added.
