Odisha Congress gheraoes ED office, BJP hits back

Congress leaders in Odisha staged gheraoed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Bhubaneswar on Thursday by alleging that the BJP-led Union Government is misusing important central investigating agencies like ED and CBI.

As per reports, the senior leaders of Congress under the leadership of the PCC Steering Committee held the protest by shouting slogans like – ‘Save Democracy’, ‘Save Constitution’ and ‘Daro Mat’ (Don’t fear).

Congress leaders reportedly tried to break into the ED office. In the process, they had a tussle with police who tried to prevent them from entering the office. 

The protests were held across the country today at the behest of the Opposition leader in Parliament Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, the ruling BJP in Odisha rapped the Congress by saying that it’s a self-preservation drive by the looteras and the corrupted.

“BJP is indulged in corruption and black money. Staging protests at the ED office is politically motivated. The party is not fighting for the interest of the people. Many accused are the leaders of the party,” said Odisha BJP spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra.

“ED office gherao by Congress is only a drama. It’s a self-preservation step by the Congress,” he added.
