In a shocking incident, four students of Kesinga Utkela Junior College in Kalahandi were reportedly slapped, beaten, abused and forced to smoke cigarettes on the streets by a former student. The matter came to the fore after a video of the incident went viral on Saturday.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the matter following a complaint filed by a student at the local police station.
As per reports, a student alleged, “We were returning home from the college and were chatting. Minakentan Majhi called us and suspected that we were talking about him. Then he beat us and puffed out cigarette smoke while video-graphing the scene. Majhi also forcibly took Rs 300 from two students.”

As for the incident, principal of the college, Judhistir Budhia, said, “After watching the video, I felt extremely bad about the incident and immediately intimated an ASI of the local police station about it. The ASI had taken note of the viral video. As the incident badly affects the reputation of the college, I urged police to take necessary action against the accused and give justice to the students.”
The principal further stated that police had gone to the village of the accused. Since the accused was absconding, police detained his father and a youth who had shot the video of the incident, he added.
