Bargarh district Collector on Friday directed the district civil supplies department to suspend a supply assistant for not distributing rice to beneficiaries for seven months.
The residents of Tora Panchayat in Bargarh district met district Collector Monisha Banerjee on Friday to lodge a complaint against supply assistant Sanjeev Suna. In their complaint, they alleged that Suna had not distributed rice for seven months even though he had taken the fingerprints of the beneficiaries.
The fumed residents said they had taken the matter up with the Sarpanch but to no avail. With no option left, they had decided to meet the district Collector.

“We have not received rice for seven months. Once we told him (Sanjeev Suna) that we would go to the block office. Hearing this, he asked us not to go to the block office and promised us that he would clear the backlog. But he did not do that,” alleged Sukun Pradhan, a female beneficiary.
After coming to know about the fact, Bargarh district Collector, Monisha Banerjee directed the district civil supplies department to suspend the supply assistant in question.
“We received the complaint today. Earlier, no one had brought such a complaint before us, not even at our monthly grievance meeting. After coming to know about the beneficiaries’ problem, I have directed the department to distribute the rice today itself. The department has also been directed to suspend the supply assistant. Soon disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against him,” said district Collector, Monisha Banerjee.
