In a heart-wrenching incident, a Class 2 girl was trapped inside a locked classroom and spent the entire night stuck in the iron window grill while trying to escape at Anjar Government Upper Primary School in Keonjhar.
As per reports, in a desperate bid to get out, the girl used all her strength to bend the iron bars of the classroom window slightly and managed to push her body through. However, her head got stuck in the railing, leaving her trapped in that position throughout the night.
When her family searched for her, they could not find her anywhere. When the school gates were opened, the shocking sight was discovered. Villagers and family members joined hands to rescue her and rushed her to the district headquarters hospital for treatment. After receiving primary medical care, she was discharged and has since returned home in stable condition.

The disturbing incident has raised serious concerns about negligence on the part of school authorities. The matter has been reported to the School and Mass Education Department.
Questions are now being raised over how a Class II girl was left behind inside her school classroom. Neither the teachers nor any other staff noticed her presence before the classroom was locked. Concerns are mounting over how safe students really are within the school premises, as this incident exposes serious lapses in supervision and security.
"I had gone to work. When I returned home at around 9 pm, I didn't find my daughter. When I asked other children, they told me that she was asleep. I asked them why they didn’t wake her up. Then I thought that she might have fallen asleep at somebody's house and return home in the morning. When she didn't return in the morning, we went to the school. After opening the room, the child was found stuck in the railing. Subsequently, she was taken to the hospital for treatment," said the girl's mother, Jhunu Dehury.
"Our cook locks the classrooms in the school every day. As it was raining, the cook could not come on that day. When it stopped raining a little bit, we decided to lock the classrooms at 4.10 pm. We asked two senior students of Class VII to lock the rooms. The little girl of Class II was asleep in the classroom. As a result, the senior students could not see her. They put out the light, closed the windows, and the doors of the classroom. We don't know when the child woke up. As the family members didn't find the child at night, they came to the school in the morning and found her. The girl might have tried to get out through the window. She was eventually rescued," said Sanjita Das, a teacher at the school.
