The investigation into the death of a girl student at Fakir Mohan (FM) Autonomous College has intensified, with three major bodies- the Crime Branch, UGC fact-finding team, and the State Higher Education Department’s high-level Committee conducting ground-level inquiries. These teams are meticulously examining every aspect of the case.
While the Crime Branch team held discussions with college authorities, students, and the family members of the deceased, the UGC’s fact-finding team from Delhi and the team from the Higher Education Department visited the college and conducted a detailed probe that lasted for several hours. The investigations will continue today as well.
According to sources, the teams are questioning the members of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), faculty members, students, and the current Principal. The teams are inquiring about the behaviour of Samir Sahoo and his role in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has intensified its probe into the mysterious death of a female student of FM College in Balasore, with new developments emerging during the second day of its on-ground investigation.
Leads In Petrol Mystery
On Friday, the investigating team visited the FM College campus and also inspected nearby areas. In a major breakthrough, they visited a petrol pump located close to the college after obtaining crucial CCTV footage yesterday.
According to reliable sources, the footage shows a young woman purchasing one litre of petrol in a plastic bottle from the pump on July 12, the day of the tragic incident.
However, the identity of the woman, the reason behind buying petrol, and whether this act is directly connected to the death of the FM College student remain under investigation. The Crime Branch is now focusing its efforts in this direction, suspecting a possible link between the purchased petrol and the victim’s burn injuries.
The pump employee on duty has reportedly admitted to handing over petrol in a bottle to a young woman on that day. The footage has been secured by the investigators and is being closely examined for further clues.
If the identity of the woman is confirmed and her motive is uncovered, it may open a new angle in the case and bring investigators closer to the truth behind the student’s suspicious death.
