Clearing the air surrounding speculations regarding a possible cabinet expansion in Odisha, BJP state president Manmohan Samal on Sunday clarified that there are no immediate plans for a ministerial reshuffle in the state. He made the announcement after visiting Maa Samaleswari temple in Sambalpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Samal said, “There is no plan for cabinet expansion. The Parliament Affairs Committee will take a decision in this regard.”

His remarks come amid political speculation regarding potential reshuffles and preparations ahead of upcoming elections.

On the Nuapada by-election, Samal expressed confidence that the BJP would retain the seat, predicting a strong victory for the party. He stressed that the by-election campaign would focus primarily on farmers’ welfare, including bonuses and development initiatives, which he described as key priorities for the voters.

By emphasizing governance and grassroots issues, Samal signalled that the party intends to strengthen its support base in rural areas rather than engaging in internal political manoeuvring. His visit to the temple and public statements underline the BJP’s focus on both cultural engagement and voter-centric development issues ahead of the polls.
