Close on the heels of the death of an Odia jawan in naxal attack in Jharkhand, another jawan from the state has been martyred in Manipur. The slain jawan has been identified as Nilachal Patel of Baghapali village in Bargarh district.
Nilachal, who was working as a jawan in Assam Rifles, was martyred during patrolling on Friday night. It was way back in 2004 when Nilachal had joined the Assam Rifles.
On the fateful day, the vehicle in which Nilachal was travelling met with an accident. As per reports, the mortal remains of the jawan are expected to arrive his village on Monday for the last rites.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of martyred Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, Sushant Khuntia were consigned to flames at his ancestral town in Anandapur in Keonjhar on Saturday.
Khuntia had attained martyrdom in a naxal attack in Jharkhand on Friday. The Naxals ambushed Khuntia and other jawans when they were returning from a combing operation. Two jawans including Khuntia sustained bullet injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment. However, Khuntia succumbed to his injuries.
