After Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP, Amar Patnaik’s remarks on Tata Power, Cuttack Mayor, Subhash Singh targeted the power distribution company assuring to put more pressure so that it delivers better service.
Answering reporters’ questions, Singh said, “Odisha is a power surplus state. So, there should not be any power cuts in our State. If there is any problem, it should be rectified by Tata Power to provide an uninterrupted power supply.”
“As far as the nor'wester-induced power outage is concerned, Tata should be more proactive and put more manpower on the field to restore power supply immediately. Moreover, the power distribution company should implement the recommendations of the Chief Secretary,” Singh added.
The statement came at a time when the government and the administration seem to be targeting Tata Power with Chief Secretary, Pradeep Jena and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik demanding more effective load balancing by the distribution company.
“The power outages in some parts are only because of some gaps or shortfall in distribution which are not being reviewed and upgraded from time to time,” said Patnaik.
According to Patnaik, it is the best time to do this as they (company) will be in a position to react better in case of nor’wester or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Tata Power authorities have assured to double their manpower on the field and ensure faster restoration of power after outages during nor'wester rains.
