The Odisha government won’t sanction any new IMFL “OFF” shop in the state during the financial year 2024-25. 

This is a part of the state government’s new Excise Policy which will come into force from September 1, 2024. 

Under the new excise policy, no new FL “ON” shop shall be sanctioned in rural areas, except for the 3-star and above category of hotels. Similarly, dance performances won’t be allowed in any “ON” shops. They can hold musical performances or orchestra after obtaining the necessary permission.

Moreover, the license for location and the number of Beach Shacks allowed for serving liquor will be based on the approval given by the Tourism Department. The Beach Shacks will be allowed to operate throughout the year or for

a period as decided by the Tourism Department, depending on climatic conditions, the new policy stipulated.
