Newborn girl rescued near Nandankanan
You might have come across several incidents of new-born girls being left to die in remote areas of Odisha. But this latest incident of an infant being stuffed inside a bag and thrown near a culvert in Bhubaneswar has raised many questions.
The newborn girl was rescued from a culvert near Nandankanan police station on Wednesday. It was a group of passers-by, who first stopped near the spot after hearing the cries of the baby.
On further searching the spot, the girl was rescued from a bag. Though it is not clear who threw the infant here, the incident has certainly made many think about what can be done to put a check on such incidents.
Following the incident, the newborn girl was immediately shifted to the Capital Hospital for treatment.
Sources said that the condition of the girl is stable and her custody has been handed over to an orphanage. Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the incident.
