Newborn girl child found abandoned on streets in Odisha

In a heart-wrenching incident, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned on the streets of Karanjmala in Bhadrak District of Odisha. This unfortunate incident came to light on Friday. 

As per reports, a woman, Sumitra Majhi, heard the cries and went to inspect the source. Upon inspection, she found the baby girl and alerted the villagers. The newborn was then rushed to the Dhamra Primary Health Centre (PHC). 

“After administering first-aid, she was transferred to the Bhadrak Hospital through 108 Ambulance service, as the child was in need of ICU care. She weighed around 2 kilograms,” said Janmajay Behera, on-duty doctor at the PHC.

According to reports, someone wrapped the girl in a polythene bag and threw her into the bushes from where she was rescued.
