The Odisha government is set to introduce a new excise policy within the next 15 to 20 days, as confirmed by Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan. The preparations for the updated policy have reached the final stage, paving the way for its implementation across Odisha, he said.

Speaking to the media, Minister Harichandan on Monday stated, "The formulation of the new excise policy is in its conclusive phase. Until it comes into effect, the existing excise policy, which has been extended for a month to ensure smooth regulation, will continue."

Harichandan further emphasized that the new policy will be enforced following the Chief Minister’s approval.

What Will Be In The New Excise Policy?

The revised guidelines are expected to introduce crucial changes aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework and addressing concerns related to the excise sector.

The Odisha government’s move to refine the excise policy comes in the wake of ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline the sector while balancing economic and social considerations.

The authorities are optimistic that the new measures will enhance transparency and effectiveness in the state’s excise administration.
