A New Delhi-bound IndiGo flight on Monday made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar after one of its engines developed a technical snag.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualties or injuries. As per sources, the flight with 180 passengers landed safely and all the passengers were safe.
Even as reports suggest that a bird hit the left engine of the flight leading to the technical snag, there has been no official confirmation in this regard.
Sources said the flight took off from Bhubaneswar airport for New Delhi at the scheduled time of 7:50 am today morning. Just after 20-25 minutes, the pilot learned about the technical snag at around 8:15 a.m. and returned to BPIA.
The IndiGo flight 6E-2065 operating from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi had to be returned due to a technical issue caused in the left side of the engine, sources said.
As per the latest reports, the passengers have been asked to get off the flight. There are chances of another flight being arranged for all the passengers of IndiGo flight 6E-2065.
Besides, reports suggest that the flight has been grounded for the day and will not resume its journey back to New Delhi due to the technical snag.
Meanwhile, the quick action of the pilot to land the flight back at BPIA before the situation turned fatal has been receiving praise from all quarters.
Speaking to OTV, a passenger Trinath Lenka said, “I was flying to New Delhi and the flight had taken off three minutes before the scheduled time. However, the pilot came to know about the technical snag mid-way. All the passengers panicked after the incident, but the pilot assured us to be calm and landed the flight safely. We are not sure but there are reports of a bird hitting the left engine of the flight.”
“Steps are being taken to help the passengers fly to their destination in New Delhi by the airport authorities,” he added.
