New beneficiaries in Odisha likely to get ration cards in a month
In good news for the families who have applied for new ration cards in Odisha, they may receive the same within a month, informed Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra.
According to Patra, the State government has already started the process in this regard. A total of 6, 19, 836 families in the State have so far applied for ration cards.
The Minister further said that the departmental authorities have been ordered to exclude the ineligible beneficiaries from the list. The government has prepared 12 guidelines for the inclusion of eligible beneficiaries and 10 guidelines for the exclusion of ineligible beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, e-kyc audits will be made to check whether the information provided by the beneficiaries is transparent or not. Following the completion of e-kyc audits, ration cards will be provided to the new beneficiaries.
“We have given a departmental order to exclude ineligible beneficiaries from the list and the work is going on in every district. After getting the full list, we will select the eligible beneficiaries. More than six lakh families have applied for ration cards so far. More families will also apply. However, ration cards will be provided only to eligible beneficiaries,” said Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
“We are taking the help of e-kyc audits to find out eligible beneficiaries. Our officers are also doing inquiries by making door-to-door surveys and it is expected to be completed soon,” he added.
