Odisha is set to become home to Nestlé India’s first manufacturing facility in the eastern region, as the company laid the foundation stone for its upcoming factory in Khordha on Thursday. The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

This new facility, which marks Nestlé India’s tenth factory in the country, is being developed with an initial investment of approximately Rs 900 crore in its first phase. It will focus on manufacturing products from the company’s foods portfolio, including prepared dishes and cooking aids.

Speaking at the event, CM Majhi expressed his appreciation for Nestlé India’s commitment to setting up a cutting-edge facility in Odisha. He assured the company of the state government’s full support in its endeavors.

Nestlé India’s Chairman and Managing Director, Suresh Narayanan, emphasized the company’s dedication to ‘Make in India,’ stating that the new factory would not only strengthen its business operations but also serve as a model for gender diversity, sustainable manufacturing, and digital management.

Nestlé India has been steadily expanding its manufacturing footprint across the country since establishing its first factory in Moga, Punjab, in 1961. Over the years, it has added plants in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana, Goa, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat. The upcoming Odisha facility is expected to further bolster the company’s production capabilities while contributing to regional economic growth.
