NEET-UG paper leak case: CBI arrests one more accused from Bhubaneswar

The CBI arrested Susanta Samanta, 34, from Bhubaneswar for his alleged role in the NEET-UG paper leak case. Arrested on Saturday, he was produced before a Patna court on Monday. The court granted CBI a five-day remand for further investigation. The scam was first uncovered by Patna Police on May 5 and later transferred to the CBI.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested one more person from Bhubaneswar for his alleged involvement in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) paper leak case.

The accused has been identified as Susanta Samanta (34).

According to sources, the central probing agency arrested Samanta from Bhubaneswar on Saturday and produced him before the court of executive magistrate of CBI in Patna on Monday.

The CBI urged the court to take Samanta on 10-day remand. However, the court allowed the probing agency to take Samanta on a five-day remand for further investigation into the case, sources informed.

NEET-UG Paper Leak Case: All Details So Far

CBI, so far, has taken custody of five persons in connection with the case and it is interrogating them to extract more information about the scam.

Notably, the NEET question paper leak was first uncovered by Patna Police on the day of the examination, May 5.

The case was initially transferred to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police, which quickly identified several individuals involved, including the mastermind, Sanjeev Mukhiya from Nalanda District in Bihar.

Following a recommendation from the Union Education Ministry, the case was later transferred to the CBI for further investigation.
