While inaugurating the membership drive of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday, party supremo Naveen Patnaik took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by saying that BJD is not collecting membership by missed calls.
According to Patnaik, BJD is beyond this and to serve the people of Odisha is its aim. The Leader of the Opposition further said that BJD is in the hearts of the people of Odisha.
“You know that some parties are doing membership drive through missed calls. BJD is beyond this. Service and self-respect are our ideology,” said Naveen.

Meanwhile, hitting back at Patnaik, the BJP said that they have nothing to say about what BJD does.
According to Odisha BJP vice-president Golak Mohapatra, BJP has already got the result of their work.
“People of Odisha discarded Naveen Babu. Whichever party will work they will decide whether to do a missed call or call. Their party governed Odisha for 25 years. They should review why people decided to vote them out of power if they were reaching people by calling them,” said Mohapatra.
“Our party workers are visiting people at their doorsteps, mixing with them and collecting their data. Whatever, BJP is doing BJD can’t do,” he added.
“Whether we are collecting members through missed calls or by meeting people physically is our party affair. I think Naveen Babu is eager to be a member of the BJP, but he has proceeded halfway. The missed call was a matter before 2019. Now, apart from the missed call, data processing is being made and the photo of the person wishing to be a member of the BJP is also getting attached. He should fully see our online process. If he wants, I will visit Naveen Niwas and help him become a member of BJP as many leaders of BJD are desperately waiting to be members of BJP,” said BJP leader Babu Singh.
