Naveen Patnaik returns to Bhubaneswar after surgery
After undergoing surgery in Mumbai, Odisha's Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik returned to Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Naveen was reportedly given a grand welcome by enthusiastic Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders and workers.
As per reports, thousands of party members gathered at the airport and accompanied Naveen in a grand procession from the airport to his residence, Naveen Niwas. The outpouring of support reflected the excitement and relief among BJD supporters upon his return.
Naveen had travelled to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on June 20 for treatment of cervical arthritis. He underwent a successful surgery on June 22 and was discharged from the hospital on July 7.
The operation, carried out by eminent cardiac surgeon Dr Ramakanta Panda, was successful. The four-hour-long operation went smoothly. The first two hours involved procedural preparations, while the remaining two hours were dedicated to the core surgical intervention. Post-surgery, Naveen was shifted to the recovery room and remained there under close observation for the next 48 hours, as per medical protocol.
Naveen's return to Odisha has sparked joy and renewed energy among BJD leaders and supporters across the state.
"Not only BJD supporters but also people from all the nooks and corners of Odisha came to see their favourite leader. All of them were happy and excited, as evident from their body language. With God's grace and good wishes from the people of Odisha, Naveen's treatment was successful," said BJD vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra.
