Naveen Patnaik, the BJD Supremo and Leader of Opposition in Odisha, is recovering well after undergoing a successful surgery, informed his elder brother Prem Patnaik on Monday.
Prem further said that Naveen is now able to walk a few steps on his own to the bathroom. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to everyone who prayed for Naveen's speedy recovery.
"Naveen had a procedure yesterday and he is doing very well. He is walking a little bit, a few steps to the bathroom. I just want to thank all of you and the people of Odisha for thinking about him and praying for him. I am sure that with all your good wishes, he will have a very very speedy recovery," said Prem Patnaik.
Naveen under observation
The surgery, which lasted nearly four hours, was successfully performed yesterday. Dr. Ramakant Panda, who led the operation, confirmed that Naveen is in stable condition. He further stated that Naveen will remain under observation at the hospital for the next two days. Following this, he is expected to stay in the hospital for an additional 3 to 4 days before being discharged.
Naveen Patnaik had been suffering from cervical arthritis and he was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai last Friday for treatment.
"With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the operation was successful. A renowned spine surgeon from Coimbatore was brought in especially for the procedure," Dr Panda said.
