Multi-storey building for Odisha MLAs to be complete by 2025: Speaker Surama Padhy
An under-construction and multi-storey building, meant to provide accommodation to Odisha MLAs, will be complete by 2025, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy said on Wednesday.
However, the Speaker decried the slow progress of construction work that started during the previous government. She has twice reviewed the ongoing work, so far. The construction firm has been given a deadline and the work will be finished accordingly.

“The construction of a housing project, meant for legislators, is underway and going on at a slow pace. However, after completion, the MLAs will not face any accommodation problems. Even there is not much difficulty regarding their housing, at present. Most of the MLAs have been allotted government quarters,” the Speaker said.
Those legislators, who have not been allotted quarters yet, will be given a housing allowance of Rs 30,000 per month, Speaker Padhy informed.
Worth mentioning, the construction work had slowed down due to a previous decision.
