BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda on Saturday visited Binod Bihari temple to take stock of the situation after the ancient temple in Kakata Mouza in Kendrapara district was damaged in a lightning strike on August 19.
As per reports, the temple suffered damages due to a lightning strike. Stones were dislodged in two places of the temple. The ‘Dadhinauti’ of the temple also suffered damages.
After visiting the temple, Panda said steps would soon be taken for the conservation of the temple.
This temple is one of the ancient monuments in Odisha and is in need of repair. Since it is attached to the sentiments of an uncountable number of devotees, steps would soon be taken in this regard, said the Parliamentarian.
“We came to this 800-year-old temple to review the magnitude of damage it suffered due to a lightning strike. The damage would definitely be repaired. The government organization responsible for its conservation will take steps in time,” he added.
Temple trustee member Umakanta Singh said, “The Parliamentarian took stock of the temple’s condition and assured us of an early start of conservation work. Before leaving, he also promised that he would visit the temple after completion of repair work.”
“MP Baijayant Panda visited the temple and saw its condition. He will speak to the concerned officials regarding the repair work of the temple. We hope the work will start soon,” said Kishore Panda, Kendrapara district BJP president.
