A woman was killed and her husband critically injured after a Mo Bus hit their vehicle under an overbridge in the Tamando police station area of Bhubaneswar on Friday night.
Sources reported that a Mo Bus plying on Route Number 33 was returning to the Kalinga Nagar depot when it hit at least two scooters near a shopping mall. An eyewitness alleged that the bus was speeding recklessly and ran over one of the vehicles while dragging another for several meters.
The Mo Bus first hit a scooter, carrying a couple, causing it to lose balance and fall on the road. A woman pillion rider was caught under the wheels and was subsequently trampled to death. Meanwhile, the man riding the two-wheeler was flung away and admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Locals also stated that the bus further hit another two-wheeler, whose passengers suffered grievous injuries.

“I heard a loud crash and turned to see that a speeding Mo Bus had crushed a woman to death and was then driving away while also dragging a vehicle with it. Four people were hit and one of them died on the spot,” said an eyewitness.
Meanwhile, police arrived at the scene and arrested the Mo Bus driver. An investigation is on to ascertain the identities of the deceased and the injured persons. Till the last reports came in, no additional comments could be obtained from the authorities.

Following the incident, tensions erupted in the area, with locals vandalizing the bus. Further, tensions also ran high as the accident came just over a week after a Mo Bus killed a minor girl in the Nandankanan area, marking an alarming spurt in crimes involving the state-government-run buses.
