MLA Bijay Shankar-Somalika discord: Somalika appears before marriage registrar

Somalika Dash, the rumoured girlfriend of BJD's Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das, appeared before the marriage registrar's office in Cuttack for the second time on Tuesday. She had deposed before the registrar on November 7 after receiving a summons to submit documents to prove her allegations against the MLA.

Somalika Dash moved an objection on October 7 after the Tirtol MLA filed an application for marriage with another woman identified as Pratyusha Nanda of Cuttack.

Somalika claimed that Pratyusha, whom the MLA intends to marry, is a married woman. The marriage registrar's office had asked her to prove her allegations by producing witnesses, data, and documentary evidence.
In her previous appearance on November 7, the complainant had put forth her stand on the issue and sought 15 days' time to submit documents and other evidence. 

Earlier on November 3, the Orissa High Court had rejected the petition moved by Somalika who had sought a stay on the MLA’s application for marriage with another woman. The High Court had rejected the petition citing that the case is sub-judice as the Cuttack district marriage registration officer is investigating the matter.
