In a significant development, Indian Navy personnel Saurabh Kumar Patra, who has been missing since January 19, was recently caught on CCTV footage at the Ichchapuram Station. The footage shows Patra leaving the station platform, raising hopes for his safe return.
Railway authorities and police are on high alert as the search of him continues after he vanished while travelling to Kerala for duty in Kochi. He was reported missing after his personal items, including his identification card was discovered near railway tracks, escalating concerns among his loved ones. Since his sudden disappearance, his mobile phone has been unresponsive, further heightening the concern of his family.
According to sources, Patra was en route to Kochi, Kerala, to assume his post as an acting communicator at the Indian Naval Station (INS) Garuda. He had boarded a train from Brahmapur on Jan 19, after which his family lost all contact with him, as his mobile phone has remained switched off.
Fearing for his wellbeing, Patra's family promptly reported his disappearance to Brahmapur Town Police Station. “We are desperately hoping for any information about his safety,” pleaded a family member.
Police Action So Far:
Responding swiftly, police have initiated a thorough investigation, focusing on areas surrounding Ichchapuram Station where Patra was last detected. Authorities are analysing all possible leads and urge the public to come forward with any useful information.
The CCTV footage has brought hope among his family members who suspected he was killed or died due to some reason during his journey to Kerala. No comments could be obtained from Brahmapur police in this connection.
The Indian Navy officer Saurabh Patra family resides at Gate Bazar area in Berhampur. He joined the Indian Navy in 2019 and was recently posted at INS Garuda in Kochi. He had come to his home on leave in December 2024.
