A case of robbery and arson has been reported from Belapada area in Balugaon in Khordha district, Odisha. The criminals not only looted valuables from the house of one Abinash Sethy but also set fire to the property.
The act of robbery occurred while his family members were away at a relative's house for dinner, reportedly. The criminals took advantage of the absence of anyone at the house and broke the grill to enter. Once inside, they vandalized the bedroom, breaking the almirah and stealing gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees along with Rs 50,000 in cash.
According to sources, after carrying out the robbery, the criminals set the house on fire before fleeing the scene. Following the discovery of the state of the house, the family members have lodged a complaint about the incident at the Naval outpost.

Family Left Devastated:
Expressing her frustration and helplessness, Manasi Sethy, the owner of the house, shared her ordeal, saying, “The robbers took away all cash and jewellery from the house and destroyed everything they couldn’t steal. They broke the television and set the house on fire. There is nothing left. They stole gold ornaments weighing around 30-40 grams and approximately Rs 55,000 in cash.”
“We no longer have beds to sleep on, as they were damaged in the fire. The criminals also tore apart 3-4 box beds and stole their contents. They broke the locks of the almirahs and made off with the valuables stored inside,” she added further.
Police Begin Probe
Meanwhile, police have reached the scene and carrying out an investigation into the matter.
