Some unidentified miscreants on Sunday damaged a plaque before the laying of the foundation stone for the new building of Mandasahi Community Health Centre in Jagatsinghpur district.
State Health Minister Niranjan Pujari was scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the project on Sunday evening. However, some miscreants reportedly damaged the plaque before the programme.
Locals alleged that as the name of Mandasahi Sarpanch Puspalata Das was not mentioned in the plaque, some of her supporters damaged it.
Though no reaction from Das could be obtained in this regard, his representative Ashok Kumar Bhoi condemned the incident. Bhoi indicated that some workers might have damaged the plaque.
“I heard that some of the supporters of the Sarpanch have damaged the plaque. But the name of the Sarpanch should have been mentioned in the plaque. The State government is killing democracy. I condemn the incident,” said the Sarpanch’s representative.
Meanwhile, a complaint regarding the incident has been lodged at the nearest police station.
“I think some miscreants have damaged the plaque to make the programme a flop. However, we are fully alert and we will try our best to make it a successful one,” said Mandasahi Community Health Centre Superintendent, Suresh Kumar Lenka.
A couple of days back, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak had to return midway after some unidentified miscreants ransacked a plaque of a project scheduled for inauguration in Kendrapara district.
