2 more accused arrested in connection with gang-rape case in Bhubaneswar
Two more accused were arrested on Friday in connection with the alleged gang-rape case of a minor girl under Nayapalli Police limit in Bhubaneswar. With this, the total number of arrests has risen to five.
Nayapalli Police has forwarded them to the court following their arrest.
The mobile phone used in the shooting of the heinous crime was also seized.
Earlier, as many as three persons including the victim’s minor female friend were arrested.
“Two more accused who were directly involved in the case were arrested. They will be forwarded to court today. All the accused are 19-20 years of age and some of them are students. We are tracing their criminal antecedents,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra.
Notably, the minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by four persons. Even the accused shot the video of the heinous crime and demanded money from the victim’s mother by threatening to make the video viral.
The female friend of the victim had allegedly sent the minor girl to the four accused. Subsequently, they gang-raped the minor girl by mixing intoxicants in her soft drink.
Following the development, Nayapalli Police took the sensitive matter seriously and started an investigation into the incident by forming a special team.
