As Bali Yatra fever grips residents of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, everyone has another reason to cheer as the Mahanadi riverfront development project will commence soon, informed Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister, Department of Housing & Urban Development, Odisha.
The plans for the much-anticipated Mahanadi Riverfront Project are advancing steadily, with construction expected to commence soon. An annual fair, akin to a mini Bali Yatra, will illuminate Cuttack every day.
Residents no more have to wait for the annual Bali Yatra. They can visit the Mini Bali Yatra that will be held every day. The ambitious project aims to establish permanent attractions, featuring an amusement park set amidst expansive green spaces along with recreational facilities for children. Moreover, a footpath is envisioned to enhance accessibility and enjoyment of the riverfront.
Engagements are underway with various organisations to finalise the development plan for the riverfront. An expert team will conduct a study of Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront to draw valuable insights. Subsequently, field assessments will be conducted at Mahanadi in Cuttack to fine-tune the blueprint.
During his visit to the Cuttack Bali Yatra, Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra shared these updates. Attending the event on its sixth evening, the minister expressed his delight at witnessing the drone show, a highlight of the festival.

“There will be a mini Bali Yatra every day in the Mahanadi riverfront after the completion of the project. But, the annual trade fair will be conducted in a grand manner like every year. We already held a meeting in this regard. CM Mohan Majhi has advised to take up the project soon. There will be another meeting very soon,” he added.
“We are in talks with several companies. We have also contacted the company that was the mastermind behind the Sabarmati riverfront project. Their team is expected to come here on a visit,” he stated.
