Microsoft global outage severely hampers flight services at Bhubaneswar airport

A Microsoft global outage has disrupted flight services at Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport, affecting airlines like IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, and SpiceJet. The outage, linked to a recent CrowdStrike update, also impacted sectors worldwide. Manual check-ins are causing delays at the airport.

Microsoft outage has severely affected services at the Bhubaneswar airport. Millions of Windows users across the globe are experiencing errors, which Microsoft stated due to the recent CrowdStrike update.

While the tech giant said that it is investigating the issue, services across various sectors were severely hampered due to the outage. Among the flight services, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara and Spicejet among others are facing issues.

Flight booking and checking inside the Bhubaneswar airport have been affected due to the sudden outage. The passengers are being given the services manually at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, it was learnt. This has led to delays in flights both exiting and landing at Bhubaneswar airport.

Earlier, IndiGo, through a tweet said, “Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted...”

Similarly, SpiceJet tweeted, “We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities. As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports. We kindly request passengers with upcoming travel plans to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in at our counters...”

Apart from India, the outage was also reported in America, London, Australia, Germany, the UK and other countries. The banking services were also severely affected in some places in India. Several reports stated that services in Railways were also affected in many parts of the country.
