A disturbing case of a fabricated gang-rape allegation has surfaced in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. Investigations revealed that the false accusation was orchestrated by the distant relatives of the alleged survivor and her mother, using them as pawns in a larger conspiracy.

According to reports, Nana Saye from the Kaptipada region and Shyam Sundar Rana from the Sharata region, both currently lodged in Baripada Jail in connection with separate cases, hatched the plot in a calculated attempt to falsely implicate the complainants involved in their respective cases.

Alleged Victim & Her Mother Carry Out Plan

In an attempt to frame the complainants in two separate cases, Shyam Sundar’s sister, a distant relative, allegedly gathered detailed information about them as part of the conspiracy.

A few days ago, she and her daughter approached the Bangiriposhi police, fabricating a gang-rape story. The daughter falsely claimed that five young men lured her with a job offer, took her 80 kilometres away in an Omni vehicle, and then gang-raped her on a roadside.

Acting on the complaint, Udala police detained two youths and launched an investigation. However, the probe soon uncovered the truth behind the plot. Police confirmed that the gang-rape allegation was baseless and assured that appropriate legal action would follow after the ongoing investigation concludes.

On the other hand, the involved mother and daughter have not made any remarks about the matter.

Police Confirm Fabrication Of Case

Udala Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Hrushikesh Nayak stated, “In the gang-rape case reported at Udala Police Station, the alleged victim admitted before the Judicial Magistrate that the complaint was fabricated. Medical examinations also confirmed that she was not sexually assaulted. The complaint, filed by the victim and her mother, was allegedly driven by bias against the accused, whose earlier complaints had led to the imprisonment of their relatives. As no evidence has been found against the accused, further action will be taken as per the law.”
