In an anti-naxal operation, Bolangir district police seized a substantial cache of explosives and several other Maoist articles in the Chhataratandi forest situated near Turekela, on Monday. The seized items were allegedly dumped by the Naxalites, informed sources.
The search operation led to the discovery of weaponry and explosives clandestinely buried underground, suspected to have been hidden by Maoist insurgents operating in the area.

The cache included firearms, various types of ammunition, detonators, and other explosive materials. The discovery of these materials underlines the persistent threat posed by Maoist activities in the region.
Northern range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Himanshu Lal pledged ongoing anti-Maoist operations to ensure regional security and address insurgent threats. “Our operations will continue to dismantle Maoist networks,” he stated.

The police's action forms part of broader efforts to curb insurgency activities, which have often disrupted the area's peace and stability.
“It is a very big success for the police team. Such operations are going on in Bargarh and Bolangir districts, which are jointly being carried out by the two Superintendents of Police (SPs),” the IGP said to OTV.
“Police personnel are committed and we all are working in a team spirit. We are not working on any prediction basis, rather working in a very determined manner. We will certainly finish the Maoist activities,” IGP Himanshu Lal expressed.
