All speculations ended, as Manmohan is set to become the BJP state chief once again, informed sources said. Since he is the sole candidate, the formal announcement alone remains to be made. It became clear when no one else filed a nomination within the stipulated time.

Among the frontrunners for the position was Manmohan Samal, who is to continue in his role. Discussions were earlier going on about other candidates such as former president Samir Mohanty, former Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu, and a few others.

The Central BJP’s decision to advance with the state president election reflects a strategic focus on leadership renewal and localisation.

The outcome and leadership selection will play a pivotal role in shaping the BJP's strategic direction within Odisha, with significant interest in the emerging leadership scene.

“BJP National President JP Nadda Ji had assigned me the task of observer (Pravari) for the party’s elections in Odisha. I have received 32 nominations for the party’s national council member and one for the state president,” Sanjay Jaiswal stated in a presser.

“A formal announcement will be made tomorrow (Tuesday, July 8),” the central observer added.

Earlier in the day, senior leader and MP Pradeep Purohit had said to mediapersons that “Top leadership of the party (BJP), after discussions among them, will decide as to who will file nominations for the post of state president, which will be carried out today. We, all disciplined members of the party, will extend our support to the candidate.”
