In a heartbreaking incident, a man lost his life after a live electric wire fell on him at Khagasikana village under Tushura police station limits in Bolangir district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Brajabandhu Pradhan.

As per reports, Brajabandhu was sitting near the tubewell beside his house and brushing his teeth early in the morning, as part of his daily routine. In an unforeseen turn of events, a live electric wire suddenly snapped and fell directly onto him. The incident occurred so abruptly that no one had the time to react or intervene. He died on the spot.

The tragic mishap has cast a pall of gloom over the village. While locals are still reeling in shock and grief, no official response has been received yet from the Electricity Department regarding the incident.

This is not an isolated case. Earlier this year, in January, a couple was electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a live electric wire laid as a trap for poaching wild animals in the Nandapur police station area of Koraput district.

The couple had ventured into a nearby forest to collect firewood around noon but failed to return by evening. Concerned neighbours launched a search and tragically found their bodies in the forest later that night.
