Man fulfills wife’s dream, builds temple worth Rs 7 crore in Odisha's Jajpur

Khetrabasi reportedly spent Rs 7 crore to build the beautiful temple of the Goddess to honour the wish of her wife Baijayanti.

A man kept his promise and fulfilled his wife’s dream by building the temple of Goddess Maa Santoshi at Chikana village under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district.

The man has been identified as Khetrabasi Lenka who is an industrialist. Khetrabasi reportedly spent Rs 7 crore to build the beautiful temple of the Goddess to honour the wish of her wife Baijayanti. 

The couple gifted the temple, which has been built in South Indian architectural style, to Chikana villagers following its completion.

As per reports, the couple has been living in Hyderabad. Baijayanti was an ardent devotee of Goddess Maa Santoshi. She had a wish to construct a temple of Goddess Santoshi in the village, and Khetrabasi had promised to fulfill her dream and build a small temple in the village.

Man fulfills wife’s dream

The temple work, which was started in 2008, completed recently. The beautiful temple with intricate carving and designing has a sprawling entrance of 86 feet. 

Apart from Goddess Santoshi, Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Hanuman and Nabagrahas will also be worshipped in the temple.

“I had a wish to build the temple in a village as there are many temples in towns. I am grateful to my husband that he fulfilled my dream. We wanted to build a small temple. However, with the blessings of the Goddess, such a beautiful temple was built in our village. At last, my dream has been fulfilled,” said an elated Baijayanti.
