A tragic road mishap claimed the life of a man after his car plunged into a canal in Dunguripali block of Subarnapur district on Friday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place near Sahajbahal village under the Rampur police station limits. A Swift Dzire car (registration number OD11C-7194) lost balance and veered off the road before slipping into the canal. The driver, identified as Rohi Da Singh, was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Locals said that the car lost control suddenly and submerged quickly into the water. The driver remained trapped inside and could not come out. On being informed, the Rampur Fire Services team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
