Man critical after being set ablaze by debtor for asking his money back in Kalahandi

A man is now battling for his life after he was set ablaze allegedly by a person, who had taken some money from him, at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Anjan Padhy, has been admitted to Burla Hospital in a critical condition.

As per reports, the accused had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from Padhy. When Padhy repeatedly asked him to return his money, the accused got angry and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him. The accused asked Padhy to come to Khariar Road to collect the amount from him.

When Padhy reached the spot, the accused poured petrol on him and set him on fire as per the plan. After committing the crime, the accused, who is yet to be identified, escaped from the spot.

As Padhy is undergoing treatment in the hospital in a critical condition and his family members are staying away, no complaint regarding the incident has been lodged with the police till now.
