In the latest development in the sensational Mahanaga double murder case, the Salepur JMFC Court has issued a summon to MLA Pratap Jena.
As per reports, Jena has been asked by the court to depose before it on October 31, 2023. A summon in this regard has been served by the court to the MLA through a special messenger.
Earlier in September, the court ordered to continue the case against Pratap Jena. Moreover, the court had also transferred the case to a Bhubaneswar court.
In its order, the Court said: “After going through the statements of the complainant, witnesses, and other available materials on record, we found that a prima facie case punishable for the offenses under sections 302, 506, 120 B of the Indian Penal Code is made against the accused namely Pratap Kumar Jena.”
It is pertinent to mention here that BJP leader Kulamani Baral, who was the former block chairperson of Mahanga, and his associate Dibyasingha Baral were brutally killed on January 2, 2021.
Later, the prime accused in the case, Prafulla Biswal, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Govindpur area in Tangi of Cuttack district.
