Preparatory meeting in Bhubaneswar
A comprehensive meeting chaired by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan was held for the smooth conduct of all the rituals during the celebration of Maha Shivratri at the renowned Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
As per reports, the meeting, which saw participation from a diverse group including temple priests, government officials, and police authorities, strategised on arrangements for the celebration of Maha Shivratri on Wednesday.
Key rituals discussed
Discussions were reportedly held to ensure that all traditional rituals are adhered to, fostering collaboration among the temple priests to maintain harmony and tradition. Besides, it was decided in the meeting that the lighting of the ceremonial ‘Mahadipa’ atop Lingaraj temple would be held at 10 pm on Wednesday
Ensuring peace and order
The gathering also reportedly prioritised coordination and security with the local police pledged to deploy all necessary measures to ensure peace and order throughout the festivities.
“Jagara Jatra of Lord Lingaraj will be held tomorrow. Efforts have been made to ensure the celebration of the festival without any huddle. God has given the opportunity to the servitors to conduct all the rituals in a smooth manner and the administration is backing them indirectly. The final review for the smooth conduct of the Maha Shivratri festival has been conducted today. Heads of all the Nijogas were present today and they have promised for the smooth conduct of all the rituals,” said Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

“An important meeting was held today to ensure that how all the rituals of Lord Lingaraj on the occasion of Maha Shivratri will be conducted as per the schedule smoothly tomorrow. The servitors have assured us in this regard. The administration is fully ready to extend all kinds of support and help. With the Lord’s blessings, Mahadipa will be lifted atop the temple in time,” said Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das.
“All kinds of arrangements have been made on safety and security aspects. A total of 40 platoon force and more than 100 officers of different ranks will be deployed tomorrow to prevent any kind of untoward incidents during the celebration of the festival,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra.
