In a disturbing turn of events, a married couple from Patarajpur under Balichandrapur police limits consumed poison under mysterious circumstances. The victim couple, identified as Bharat Behera and Kanakalata Behera, was initially rushed to a hospital in Mahanga locality. Due to the severity of their condition, both were later shifted to SCBMCH for advanced treatment.

It is said that the couple had entered into a love marriage two years ago. Their relationship, once a symbol of love and defiance of social norms, now stands shadowed by uncertainty and tragedy.

As of now, the exact reason behind their decision to consume poison remains unknown. Police are investigating the case, while locals remain shocked at the incident.

No comments were received from the duo’s family or local police in this regard.

Worth mentioning, a grim incident in Cuttack district’s Badamba had left two women dead and a man critically ill after poisoning, police sources said on June 18. Preliminary reports suggested that a family dispute had led to the tragic outcome.

The incident had sparked grief and shock in the local community, with many then awaiting clarity on what led to the deaths in what appeared to be the fallout of a family feud.

“It is a case of poisoning. A post-mortem was conducted after the local police requisitioned. Health condition of the man has improved in the meantime,” a doctor treating the male, Dr. Dolagobinda Jena, had stated to mediapersons.
