"The liquor mafia used to sell liquor at his tea shop near the railway station in an illegal manner. I caught him a couple of times in the past. Recently, he came to our village to sell liquor. When my sister and nephew tried to prevent him, he assaulted them and fled from the spot. Subsequently, I lodged a complaint about the matter at the police station. Following the development, he came to our house and apologised," said Sarangi.
"I have repeatedly asked the Excise Department to stop illegal sale of liquor. Even small children are getting addicted to liquor because of them and ruining their lives. These kinds of illegal activities should be stopped," he added.
"I have not assaulted them. I only tried to take away the liquor from them. I have apologised to them and promised not to sell liquor again," said Moharana.
