Lightning strikes claim 8 lives in Odisha, 5 critical

At least eight persons were killed in lightning strikes in different parts of Odisha, which witnessed heavy rainfall on Wednesday. 

As many as five persons reportedly sustained critical injuries.

Most of the deceased who lost their lives due to the lightning strikes were working in their farmlands.

A farmer lost his life while working in the field at Bhagaram village under Agarapada Police Station of Bhadrak district. At least four persons were killed in a lightning strike at Charigaon village under the Bonth block in the district.

One person each died at Paduna, and Oldang villages in the Balasore district while working in their farmlands. Another person died at Kudua village in Dhenkanal district and a farmer passed away at Sasikadeipur village in Bhadrak district.

Similarly, lightning also claimed valuable lives at Gokulpur in Berhampur and Ayaba village in Kendrapara district.

As many as two persons sustained critical injuries at Dabala village in Sambalpur district and Chudamani village in the Bhadrak district.
