Anchor Sanhati Pani, who drew severe criticism from various quarters for wrongly pronouncing Kantababi Laxmikant Mohapatra as ‘Kanthakabi’ several times during the inauguration of the World Odia Language Conference in Bhubaneswar, reportedly admitted her mistake on social media on Monday before withdrawing her message in a hurry.
However, no reaction was received from the anchor on the 'deleted post'.
In the video message, Sanhati said, “During the inaugural ceremony of the World Odia Language Conference, I had inadvertently pronounced the title of Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra as Kanthakabi. It was a slip of the tongue. I don’t think it was intentional. I admit my mistake with humility. I am deeply hurt by the mistake.”
The World Odia Language Conference organised by the state government was inaugurated on February 3 in Bhubaneswar. While compering for the literary meet, Sahanti was heard pronouncing Kantakabi as ‘kanthakabi’ several times.

Her wrong pronunciation of the Odia literary legend’s title drew flak from various quarters. The government had to face stinging criticism on social media for its choice of anchor for the global literary meet.
Many dubbed the mistake as utter disrespect to legendary Odia literary figure Kantakabi Laxmikant Mohapatra and that too, on a global platform.
