About five kilometres from the culturally significant Ghatagaon Maa Tarini temple, this vast (16,000-hectare) forest offers an enchanting experience. Tourists and nature lovers can delve into the picturesque Peacock Valley and meadows, ascend the watchtower for sweeping views, and enjoy the luscious scenery from the renowned Buddha Viewpoint.
The safari includes a specially designated wildlife pond, offering glimpses of deer in their wild habitat, enhancing the natural allure of the region.
Scheduled tours start from the Maa Tarini temple, organised to encourage tourism and impart awareness about forest preservation. The Forest Department's initiative is poised to not only enhance tourism but potentially provide sustainable economic advantages for the local community.
Keonjhar BJP MP Ananta Nayak officiated at the launch ceremony alongside Zilla Parishad officials, marking a new chapter for the region.

“Certainly this Jungle Safari will attract the devotees coming to Maa Tarini shrine, which will in turn help promote local products and provide a market for them.
Local youths and self-help groups (SHGs) will be able to sell their products to the tourists,” Keonjhar MP said.
“Atei reserve forest spans over an area of around 22,000 hectares, of which 16,000 hectares have been opened for Jungle Safari purposes. An A/c ticket will cost Rs 250 and non-A/c Rs 200,” Keonjhar DFO Dhanraj Hanumant Dhamdhere expressed.
