In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial and clean energy ambitions, JSL Group has launched a Rs 470 crore integrated project in Kalinga Nagar of Jajpur district, combining petroleum production with solar power generation.

The venture was inaugurated by Odisha CM Mohan Majhi on May 22 as part of a massive Rs 1.15 lakh crore investment drive aimed at transforming Odisha into a leading manufacturing and investment hub.

Notably, all of these ventures are expected to create over 36,000 jobs and attract foreign and domestic capital, positioning the state as a self-reliant industrial powerhouse.

Meanwhile, the JSL project alone is expected to generate employment for at least 550 people and contribute significantly to the region’s energy and industrial landscape.

A Twin-Pillar Project: Petroleum and Solar Power

JSL’s venture has two distinct components:

Coke and Refined Petroleum Products: This facility aims to support Odisha’s growing industrial fuel needs. By focusing on refined petroleum products, it is expected to strengthen local supply chains and reduce dependency on external sources.

23 MW Rooftop Solar Power Plant: In a move towards sustainability, the project includes a sizable solar installation that will add to Odisha’s renewable energy portfolio. This plant aligns with the state’s green energy goals and will help power local industries with cleaner electricity.

Kalinga Nagar: Odisha’s Emerging Industrial Capital

Kalinga Nagar, already home to several major steel and manufacturing plants, is rapidly evolving into a key industrial cluster with Tata Steel and NINL already carrying out key operations here.

With the addition of JSL’s dual-purpose facility, the region is set to see improved infrastructure, energy security, and job growth, making it a model for industrial-led development.
