Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate, Dipali Das filed her nomination papers for Jharsuguda bypoll on Tuesday.
Like BJP and Congress candidates, Dipali too took out a huge rally after seeking blessings at Maa Pataneswari’s temple in Jharsuguda.
She toured the town with her supporters and many senior leaders of the Conch party before filing her papers at the Sub-collector’s office.
“This is a big day for me. In fact, this is my first step in politics. Though my father is no more, the entire family is with me including the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and my late father’s associates and well-wishers,” said Dipali before filing her nominations.
“I prayed at Maa Pataneswari for the well-being of Jharsuguda. My father used to revere Maa Pataneswari and he started every work after taking the blessings of the Goddess. I am following his (Naba Das’) footsteps,” said Dipali.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Tankadhar Tripathy who filed his nomination papers on Monday, kicked off his campaign in Jharsuguda.
He too sought blessings at Maa Mauli temple before hitting the campaign trail.
“We started our campaign today by seeking the blessings of Maa Mauli. This is the fight to get justice for the people of Jharsuguda. We will reach out to every home in the area and seek their support for the election,” said Tankadhar.
Congress candidate, Tarun Pandey was the first to file his nomination last Saturday.
