Popular jatra actor Sanjay Bhol has issued a public apology to the Opera Masters' Association in Odisha on Tuesday, leading to the revocation of the ban that was previously imposed on him.
As per reports, a special meeting of the Opera Masters' Association was held in Bhubaneswar following controversial remarks made by Sanjay during a recent interview, in which he criticized writers and directors associated with the jatra industry in the state. The association expressed its strong displeasure over his statements and decided to impose a ban on him.
However, during the meeting, Sanjay appeared in person and offered an unconditional apology for his remarks. Following his apology, the association decided to lift the ban, allowing him to resume his participation in Jatra performances.

"I made a mistake and I repent for it. It has been solved. I had appealed for my character and the writers have accepted it. My next character will be of Rabana. I accepted my mistake and apologized. They also forgave me. I request the jatra lovers to enjoy my acting in different characters, including Rabana in the upcoming jatra session," said Sanjay.
Background of the controversy
Earlier, Sanjay had alleged plagiarism and a face-off with the writers’ outfit. Bhola had faced the suspension for the second time after a previous apology for similar controversies.
Even Sanjay had announced plans to possibly establish his own Jatra troupe, ‘Opera Mahabala’, demonstrating his resolve to continue in the Jatra industry despite the controversies.
Notably, the jatra community in Odisha is presently grappling with many issues such as unpaid dues of actors, allegations of casting couch practices, and disputes over script authenticity.
